This sweet little girl must have been practicing for her cake smash sessoin. She dug right in and did AMAZING! Too cute and so much fun!

Sometimes little ones are very unsure of having their photos taken, especially by strangers. Usually I'm pretty good at getting them to warm up to me, at least enough to get some good photos. Sweet Caroline wasn't a big fan of having her photos done, or of me really, but we still got some great photos and she's a beautiful little girl.
Some little ones are just more serious then others. We never can anticipate how a session will go. Kason is a serious little guy and would rather be held by his mommy, then have me take his photos. His older brother Wes is very opposite and LOVES the camera. I've been photographing them both since they were born. I love getting to see them grow and the differences in personalities. We did this session in 2 parts. Kason was not a happy camper in the studio and did not like the Cake Smash, however big brother was eager to sneak in for a bite. A few weeks later we got together at a park and tried for some more life-style type shots. The results were a little better but still no big gins. This is just who he is and that perfectly fine cause he's still cute as can be!
We've finished documenting Matteo's first year. I just can't believe it, one year already! Mom chose a nice rustic theme for her handsome young man. He wasn't to sure about his cake. I'm not sure if it's because he thought it really was a stump or maybe he needs to work on his taste for chocolate ;)
Little Mikey turned 1 and his parents chose a camp fire setting. It turned out so adorable! Perfect for this out doorsy family. Mikey was joined by his two big sisters Rosie and Annie and of course they had to join in on the photo action as well. I just love this family and it has been great to watch them change over the many years.
This dapper young man had not interest in his cake. He would have rather cleaned up the mess then make it. I bet his parent's will appreciate this some day :) Even when sessions don't go quite as planned we always end up with photos we love. Sometime we have to improvise a bit (like adding snacks to the back of a cake to encourage the little ones) but you just do what it takes!
This little sweet heart was a little shy at first. Her parents warned me that she might have some problems because she was very nervous around strangers. It took me about 5 minutes to get her smiling and laughing. We just really hit it off. She is so strikingly beautiful and the colors her parents picked were just perfect.
This mighty little Duo was a handful, even for 3 adults lol They were all over the place and kept us busy. It's not often I get twinsies in for a Cake Smash but when I do I LOVE it. It was so much fun capturing their different personalities and wrangling them during the session.
Can't believe a year has flown by since this little guy first came to me as a sweet little newborn with a head full of dark brown hair. He's such a handsome fella. We took advantage of a dry day and captured some Fall color with his parents before heading to the studio for his Cake Smash session.
