This year I decided to do something a little different. I invited Santa into my studio to not just do photos with the kids but hang out with them. Each child/family had 20 minutes with the big guy. They made a craft, read a story, played or just hung out. It was great. It really eased the fear for some kids and to see how excited they were really warmed my heart. Even Santa loved the idea and looks forward to next year.

Can't believe a year has flown by since this little guy first came to me as a sweet little newborn with a head full of dark brown hair. He's such a handsome fella. We took advantage of a dry day and captured some Fall color with his parents before heading to the studio for his Cake Smash session.
I was so excited to hear that Carrie and Jason were expecting another addition. I first met them when they were expecting their first baby and have been photographing each of their little girls milestones since. Now they were expecting a little boy. How perfect! Little Miss Lila loved helping me photograph her parents as well as having some fun in the leaves. What a great session.
It has been so much fun to watch Kasen grow, just like is big brother Wes. These two boys are so darn handsome! Such lucky parents. Those big brown eyes will certainly charm anyone :)
These sessions were so much fun and the kids LOVED them. At the last minute I found these cute bug nets and couldn't resist adding. I had kids pretending to catch fairies, bugs, and their siblings. It was great! To see and hear the pure joy and laughter of children just warms my heart so much. It's so much easier to photograph a child when they are truly enjoying themselves. Not only do they want to continue to have fun, they want to come back to see me :)
I met Angela through a facebook group when I was looking for a trade for some work. Her handy husband came in and saved the day....or made the water and ice maker work on or fridge :) Bartering is such a wonderful thing. People have been doing it for hundreds of years and to this day still do. I have my filtered water and they now have their memories.
We met at Jennings Park one evening. They came with their four, very photogenic, children. We had a great session and captured some really wonderful portraits. I only met this family a few months ago and I already feel so bonded to them. We first met when Cherish contacted me about photographing her husband coming home from a deployment. I joined her, their 3 year old and several other families at the Naval station in Oak Harbor and watched many families reunite. If you haven't ever seen one of these in person you really should. It really is so powerful and gives you an even better understanding of what these families go through. It was hard to cry and stay "focused." For some reason I think I missed blogging that session so I'll share a few photos here. And this is a very very special photo, in the background you see a man meeting his baby for the first time. <3 And because we can't leave man's best friend out of a homecoming And sometimes a few months later you get a call to photograph something like this....... It's A.... Rylan is an awesome little guy. He's my best friend's little boy and like one of my own. We he found out we had a Superman photoshoot planned he was so excited. He did amazing was was very cooperative. Such a little ham and full of so much animation.
So great to have Jaxson back in the studio. Such a little artist he is. He has a smile that will warm the heart of anyone. Such a ham and a really good boy. Happy Birthday little buddy!
